Best way to watch
a NASCAR race is on Racing Furniture's NASCAR
Couch
History
of company:
Creator and CEO
Brown Councill has always been a car enthusiast
and he’s worked in his family’s furniture
business his entire career. His vision was to
mix the two. Racing Furniture is just that.
Councill says, “I
love vintage cars, old Mercedes, Mustangs,
Camaros. Each time I look at those beautiful
interiors I see a well-tailored sofa with two
arm chairs and that combination was the thought
behind Racing Furniture.”
The idea to
incorporate NASCAR and Winston Cup Racing was a
natural fit. Councill tried to get his ideas to
Winston Cup teams especially the ones near his
home town of High Point, NC. He had little
success until he got reacquainted with his
friend and now partner, COO Jay Shurling.
Shurling’s background isn’t furniture but
NASCAR. As a TV sports reporter and anchor, he
has been covering the sport for the last decade.
“Brown
came to me with this idea and I was really
hooked on it. My job was easy; get a meeting
with Brown and my friends in racing. In less
than a week, we were pitching our idea to a Vice
President of a local race team and that’s when
we saw the green flag wave.” Shurling said.
Racing Furniture
currently carries # 3 from Richard Childress
Racing, car owner of the late Dale Earnhardt who
made it famous. The rest of the list includes
defending Winston Cup Champion Jeff Gordon, his
teammate and rookie Jimmie Johnson and the 2001
Winston Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick.
The next addition
planned is Dale Earnhardt, Jr. With several more
coming at the end of the season and early 2003
Racing Furniture
also plans to add arm chairs and
recliners in 2003.
What
is our best seller?
We’re a new company
just getting our name out so we haven’t make a
ton of sales, but so far the favorite has been
our # 3 sofa. Dale Earnhardt still has a huge
following. Our design isn’t very flashy for the
# 3 but that’s out of respect for his death and
remembrance. We hope one day that all of our
products will be our best sellers.
Where can we buy
