FERRARI
FURNITURE
Its wintertime ...the racing
season is over. Time to COUCH RACE!
Couch Racing: Verb:
The act of talking about racing, bragging about
racing and breathing racing while sitting on a
couch watching racing reruns since the season is over.
Well, If you are
going to couch race – why not find the best
couch. New this year is Pininfarina design
furniture by Alberto Nieri. Now Pininfarina is
well known as a Ferrari designer -- The Nieri
Group based in the heart of Tuscany is a
furniture artisan – a great combination.
Although they have 400 employees the work they
produce looks custom, hand made of indisputable
quality. The secret here as they state is
“industrial production mixed with cr aftsmanship.
Resulting in a product that is unique and
comparable to a true work of art. Upholsterers
and assemblers create the suites one by one,
adding leather, fabric and rubber to the
structure, every detail looked after centimetre
by centimetre, giving shape, beauty and harmony
to the composition. The result: a “unique piece”
designed and studied in great detail.”
Nieri: top quality,
Italian style and a love for beauty without
compromise. With about 6
different styles available and a good assortment
of colours there’s a couch to suit everyone’s
taste. With names like Monza, Indy and
MonteCarlo, there’s a couch to suit everyone’s
favorite track. The leather was supple and soft –
the stitching was exquisite. Although some
pieces such as the Maranello tried to be
conventional, the set was detailed with
modernistic touches – this is not your parent’s
couch!
I can’t think of a
better place to plant myself for an afternoon of
racing reruns! As one would expect, the cost of
a couch ranges in the $14,000Cdn range... but
then again you can’t get a Ferrari with a Volvo
price tag now can you?
