Most motorists prefer budget cars. Firstly, they are cheap, and secondly, they lose little in price and they can be profitably sold in the secondary market, maintenance of this segment of cars does not require much investment.
But budget cars also have drawbacks. For example, they cannot be driven at high speed. This raises the question: why do the markings on the speedometer of most budget cars show 200 km / h. and more?
The first and simplest explanation for this fact is production. The dial of the speedometer is produced, like any of the car parts, according to standards. The conveyor is configured according to the same parameters for all. In the production process, it does not matter at all whether the speedometer is made for Lada Largus or Bugatti Chiron.
Another explanation for this fact is savings. Automakers make production as cheap as possible and order standard components, the production of which is definitely cheaper than custom-made.
Also, we must not forget about marketing. It is much more pleasant for the driver to look at the speedometer and see high speed indicators there, although sometimes they are absolutely unattainable. More often than not, the car’s electronics limit at much lower speeds than the maximum speedometer mark.
The high marks of the speedometer can be explained by the fact that it is more convenient to use such a device. For example, limited to 90 / km / h. the speedometer would almost always show the maximum speed of the car. This could cause the driver to feel uncomfortable and affected the handling.
